5 Reasons to Work From Home

Deciding whether to work from home is a big decision, and there are as many different reasons to work from home as there are individuals who want to make the switch. Some want greater flexibility in their current work schedule, while others want to be able to stay home and still contribute to the household income.

Whatever your reason for wanting to work from home, here is a list of just some of the perks working from home has to offer:

You get to ditch the daily commute FOREVER – According to an article published by The Washington Post, commuters in the US alone collectively spend 1.2 billions days commuting, while super commuters (90 minutes, each way) each spend an entire month traveling to and from work. The commute for the average person who works from home? It’s as easy as showering, getting dressed, pouring a cup of coffee, and firing up the computer.

You get to save a lot of MONEY – This goes without saying, but since you no longer have to commute to work, you’re able to save some serious cash by omitting daily lunch, a professional wardrobe, fuel for the car, tolls, parking, coffee, etc. Want to save even more money? You have greater FLEXIBILITY –  Many employers who hire remote workers offer flexible work schedules and locations. What does that mean for you? It means greater flexibility when and where you work. While some prefer working early morning hours, others enjoy breaking up work into smaller time frames. Some remote workers enjoy working from their home office each day, while others enjoy a bit more variety, working at a local coffee shop or even poolside.

You finally get to have a better work/life BALANCE – Because many remote jobs offer greater flexibility, this means you get to enjoy a better work/life balance. Penciling in daily exercise, occasional lunch dates with a friend, extracurricular activities for the kids, and planning vacations get a lot easier when you work from home.

You get to work on you OWN terms – Working from home allows you to drink your own coffee (or tea), work in your favorite yoga pants, play your own music, and utilize anything else form home that will help make your work day that much easier.

Although working from home provides its own set of challenges, the good certainly outweighs the bad, which is why so many people are turning to work-from-home opportunities as an alternative from the standard nine to five job.
